We are a research-oriented practice in landscape architecture and urban design. Our work, often envisioned in collaboration with practitioners in the allied fields of art and architecture, draws on the legacy of social practice to envision the public realm as a means of adaptation. At the same time, it attends to the specificities of site and context in practices of urban transformation. We work across scales, from the bioregion to the site-level, with communities and clients, including land trusts, landscape conservancies, artist-led practices, and cities and regional governance agencies.

Helen Kongsgaard’s research situates landscape architecture within the emergent field of urban adaptation to climate change and examines the role of design as cities and regions adapt to escalating impacts within projected climate scenarios. As a visiting assistant professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, she teaches in urban design. Kongsgaard holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where her research was supported by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, the Center for Geographic Analysis, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
